HODINKEE: On The Block: A First Series Rolex Submariner, But With A Different Name On The Dial— It looks like a Submariner, doesn’t it? In fact, it is. It dates to 1954, just around the time when the Sub first hit the market. So, by all accounts, this watch IS a Submariner. But then, if you take a look at the dial, you see it doesn’t read “Submariner” like you’d expect to see on a 6204. No, it reads “Sub-Aqua”. So what is a Sub-Aqua?
